Communication Skills
Understand and be understood
A famous hindi film song starts like – Chahe tum kuch na kaho, maine sun liya (Despite you not saying a word, I understood your mind). What follows is utter misunderstanding and heart-break ☺
Here we are, struggling to make meaning out of what people are telling us in their own words and there, the singer of those lines in the song, had the audacity to claim that she had understood his mind without him uttering a word!!
But frankly speaking, do you think you could do with better communication skills? Would you like to understand people and their intentions better? Would you also like them to appreciate what you say and what you mean? Would you want to minimise miscommunication and handle people and situations with more confidence and less frustration?
Maybe it would help to have a mentor and a forum where you could observe, learn and improve yourself. Interested to explore? If yes, lets talk…

I used to be a very shy person with a low confidence level. And in 1-1 discussions with my manager, I never used to speak up much. But thanks to "GROWBEYONDAJOB", it helped me to raise my confidence level & learnt the art of effective communication.
Now, I can speak freely in 1-1 or in team meetings and everyone appreciates my thoughts.

I was very good at talking with machines but very bad at communicating with people. Hence, as a result, I started becoming stagnant in my job.
But thanks to my personal mentor, he saw my blind spots and really guided me & helped me to become a people person.
As a result, I have become a Manager in a very short span of time in my current company.

All I learnt in my college education was to put across my point of view to other person and never bothered whether he understood or not. Soon I realized this was not helping me to build connection with people.
When I joined hands with this community ‘growbeyondajob’, it provided not only an additional income option but also I could learn practically, how to “seek first to understand then to be understood” as described by Steven R. Covey.
